Hey guys, I’ve been quite busy at the start of this week so I didn’t get a chance to check out the blog until basically the deadline for posting, and I noticed that no one has commented on the “reading” (movie) for this week.
I know the movie was a bit long and the way they kept cutting away from the guy in the office mid-sentence just to have him complete his own sentence in a courtyard at Stanford, and vice-versa, was unbelievably annoying, but it was also pretty interesting! I’ve never even thought to question the communist label placed on Linux before watching this movie, but now that I understand where they are coming from I am ashamed at my own ignorance. Also the fact that “free” software has the potential to provide working/ profitable business models is amazing… America has a tradition of staunch adherence to the “no free lunch” idiom, which only Linux has been able to stand up to and disprove on a widespread level.
Anyways, feel free to comment or not! See you guys in class.
