**Update** Craig and I have decided to partner on a video project wherein we interpret how the digital city talks when we walk (code named Duran Duran Ate My iPhone-DDAMi). Thanks to those of you who filled out the survey and gave me input. Unless someone objects, I might put together the skills/software/hardware info you gave me into a list of some kind and share it with the class.
Cheers!
So I’m genuinely torn between two options for the next travelogue. You’ll find explanation and a survey with a request for partners behind the cut.
- How would you start an online media venture today? (likely output: video)
- How does the city talk when we walk? (likely output: music video)
You’ll find some more details in the survey/plea for help (click ‘help’ to go to survey). Feel free to go there now, or read some more background first.
Background
As I mentioned to @Harlo today, I’m trying to figure out the next chapter of my life. Coming to NYU is an honor and an easy choice because I have a passion for learning. What I do beyond this is difficult (I KNOW I’m not alone here). The more I dream about this, the more I think I want to be a media mogul. Think Oprah, not Rupert. Although, I’d rather build a brand around something other than my name (with all due respect to my name). I already own gorditamedia.com So topic #1 might help me prep the foundation of my online real estate. It is a practical choice.
Topic #2 appeals to my artsy side. I suspect the resulting music video will be awful, but you can learn an awful lot from awful. Also, Oprah was in The Color Purple. She was the opposite of awful. My point is that even “the Oprah,” the goddess of an empire, makes time to participate in art.
Thank you for your help! Feel free to make comments below, however, I would love it if you would use the survey, too.

So, I’ve honestly been thinking about this for about an hour now, and I really don’t know which one I’d rather read. I personally would do the second one, because I’m not typically a fan of large media companies (can you tell?). But I think it would be really interesting to see you explore this. So, number 1?
I added a polling feature to our blog, now you can probably get more participation by embedding the poll in your post.
Enjoy
Thanks, Mushon! I like the poll daddy feature very much. I will still ask my classmates and you to take three minutes and click on the link to the survey I made at SurveyMonkey because I spent a good hour making it and I now have to go to another class
.
Thanks to those of you who have already visited the survey and/or commented!!
@Elisa, will you become a fan of my large media company someday? Better yet, will you join it? We will find a way to make it less icky for you!
Thanks for your thoughts!
@Craig, I am seriously thinking about it. You rock.
