Awesome video Gabe & Franklin. I’m going to show your series of posts to my friends that don’t know what mashups are. With the evolution of digital media, not only does this become accessible to everyone, but it gives a whole new dimension to the practice of “diggin in the crates” (which is an expression among hip hop dj’s for searching for and locating rare and undiscovered vinyl to integrate samples). I think you both did a solid job of showing the breadth of mash-up culture, and explaining the point beyond making something funny to making something meaningful. In a way, mashups closely mirror academia. We’re using existing knowledge, throwing in some of our own, and mashing it all together in order to create something original. Mashups are a legit practice as long as education is.

    NICE JOB!!!
It seems you guys have been moving up the mash-up chain yourselves. Very nice video which makes the content very engaging and indeed takes advantage of (audio+video) > (audio, video).

Accessibility is the key, interoperability is another key. As we will discuss today in class, it will be interesting to see how much of that will inform our move from Os and 1s to As Cs Gs & Ts…
