Broadcasting connotes a cultural content producing industry, the technical apparatus for the distribution of content, and the distribution model itself. This dossier addresses the latter definition. The early broadcasting model built on two previous attributes developed by the printing press and the cinema. The printing press ushered in an age of identical mechanical reproduction, while the cinema, building on live theater, introduced the ability to present content to a collection of people.
